Joe is the founding Managing Director of COCAPACO which stands for the Coaching Capability Company. Previous Joe completed similar work in Australia and overseas for Rio Tinto as Master Coach – Pacific Operations which commenced in October 2019. He was previously general manager at Boyne Smelters LTD (BSL) from 2012. Joe held a number of management roles at BSL, including Operations, Metal Products, Carbon and Engineering Services.
During this time, Joe supported improvements in safety, operational efficiency and quality. He has operations and maintenance leadership experience in mining, mineral processing and manufacturing.
Joe started his career with Rio Tinto as a Diesel Fitter and Heavy Earthmoving Equipment apprentice at the Weipa bauxite mine and has worked his way through each level of the organisation while completing studies in leadership and management. Joe was awarded the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) Queensland Manager of the year in September 2015 and went on to win the AIM National Manager of the year in October. In February 2017 BSL was awarded the overall winner of the 2016 Rio Tinto CEO Safety Award. In November 2019 BSL was recognised in the Gladstone Best in Business Industry awards for the 6th consecutive year.
In 2019 Joe was made a fellow of the Institute of Managers and Leaders, he graduated from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and was inducted into the Gladstone Engineering Alliance Hall of Fame.
